Last Minute Christmas Gifts can be the Best Ones



Money's tight,time is running out and Christmas is fast becoming your least favorite holiday. We often forget the big picture at Christmas time that the real meaning of Christmas is the birth of the savior of the world the baby Jesus. FRG is here to give you your last minute gift ideas.

My favorite gift buying stores is often the ones you may least think of at holiday season.

Drugstores. Drugstore chains are going after the last minute shopper more and more and prices are far more reasonable than you may think. Chains like Walgreens and CVS contain a vast array of gifts for any age or need. The Candy selections are phenom. For family members in hospital or nursing facility how about a table top mini christmas tree complete with decorations and lights for under 15 or 10 dollars in their room? A small basket filled with lotions, decorative pin,cologne sugar free or regular snicky snacks candies? Maybe a nice watch,travel nail care set and some magazines or a paperback? Make up your own gift basket. For kids you be suprized to find an array of name brand and character driven toys and videos anywhere from a dollar to 50 dollars on average with many toys in the 20 dollar range. You'll even find great seasonal items like bathrobe and slipper sets,as seen on tv items ,small appliances, gift boxes etc. And mom and dads you'll find sometimes the simplest gifts are the most pleasurable. An inexpensive basketball or football. A pack of new crayons. New cans of playdough. A soft cuddly stuffed animal. A yoyo. A retro pull toy for walking toddlers, large puzzles. Mini games like etch a sketch and battleship. And remember to use the age guidelines listed on the toys as your guide. It usually is on target. And for the under 5 age group you can't go wrong with anything to do with Elmo.



Thrift stores and pawn shops and garage sales. Think vintage. Everything old is new again. Sets of china. Unusual bone china teacups, vintage postcards, brass decorative pieces, artwork,old classic cookbooks, good working manual or electric typewriters. Buy some new inked ribbons and clean the keys with alchohol and a qtip. Kids and adults like these low cost,retro tech quick typing stations. Hard to find old style kitchen tools like flour sifters and rotery eggbeaters, costume jewery. Old magazines from the 1970 and back. Old records. Vintage and designer cloths. etc.

Grocery Stores. Grocery stores are a great place to find interesting gifts and put together great gift bags . How about a new baby gift bag with bibs, food, baby supplies and small toys etc. Or a gourmet food gift bag with cheeses, cured meats,wine,coffee, cookies etc. Or maybe a themed meal gift bag like Italy. Load a recycle bag with some boxes of pasta,pasta sauce,bread sticks,camponata,wine,cheese,Nonni biscotti,instant italian style coffee you get the idea.



Music stores or chains carrying low cost instruments. Think modest or used. Or think small like a harmonica, recorder(small wooden flute), bongo drums or ukelele.

Tourist stores. If you live in a tourist area for your state check out the local tourist section with their assorted gift shops. Great place to fine the unusal and Christmas time is a great time to find bargins. And don't turn your nose up at local tourist mugs,shot glasses, ashtrays,snowglobes, kitchen towels,etc. All this stuff is kichey now and in folks.

Hardware stores,Fish and Game Stores,Army Navy Stores. These are great places for the unusal gifts. Restractable key chains, brass spring clips are also great for key chains and clip on a pant loop. Flashlights, small gardening tools and seeds for the gardener in your family. Small all in one tool kits. patches and hats. Fatigue jackets etc. Swiss Army knifes etc. Great place for both the useful and the unusual. Our local Ace Hardware has a great little gift section.

Kraft and Art stores. Budding Artist in your family? You'll find inexpensive student art kits, doll house items, picture frames, decorator items, scrapbook items,small plastic animals, and all manner of neat stuff that can make great gifts at a bargin, blank t shirts, leather kits.



Auto parts stores. Kids toys and trucks with company logos, keychains, steering wheel and seat covers. decals. Fancy pocket tire pressure testers. etc.



Christian Book stores. Often have great gift areas as well as books and dvds.

The Local Animal Shelter. What better way to save a pet and give a companion and pet to you child or friend or relative. Make sure you are giving a pet to someone who wants one and pick the right breed and type for location and person. Throw in some food and supplies .

Local zoos or museum gift stores.

Large hospital gift shops. Hospitals with maternity centers often have great baby gifts.




Gift tips



Fruit or nut trees in your yard, have a garden consider putting together some a vege fruit or nut bag for your family and friends.



Golden Tickets for babysitting,transportation to a christmas church service or production, hated jobs like car washing and waxing,house cleaning,window washing,laundry and ironing, home cooked meal, a homemade cake or cookies or fudge.

And how about a low cost movie night on Redbox or any other kiosk style movie box? Pop some popcorn and make some snacks and watch a dollar movie. Don't have a player? Check out your local hazardous waste disposal site for decks that may have been dumped from people upgrading to blueray. Many sites have recycle centers for just that purpose. Also check out your local pawn shops.



Gift certificates. What I call the great after Christmas gift. Consider treating someone to dinner or breakfast, a tank of gas, phone minutes to call far off friends or relatives, a book of their choice through a bookseller like amazon or barnes and noble etc,a movie at the local franchise,or clothing they won't have to exchange from one of their favorite stores, a pizza, downloadable music. Or give cash or a money order. Money orders are free at Amscot.



If you have a special skill consider gifting that skill. Are you a Hairdresser, own a laundry,a carpenter,artist, crafter, organizer,good at hanging curtains etc.



Remember the word barter. Even in discount stores bartering is possible with the store managers. Overstock is not something stores want for inventory and inventory taxes. Learn the art of the barter ask for discounts on the discounts.

Don't forget to sent flowers. Always a nice way to say Happy Holidays to those you love.

How Bad Would It Be if the Government Goes Bankrupt?


The Obama admin has been using lies and fear tactics to manipulate the American public into actions that only in the end will cut their freedoms, create more governmental control of every cent we earn and manage every aspect of our lives resulting in a bloated government consuming our labor.

Would it be so bad if the government went bankrupt and closed down? Think of the government jobs that would become private industry again, think of all men and women training themselves to use a gun and defend their own property like minute men of the past, think of being able to keep every penny you make to be able to help your old folks, home school your kids, built a home and really own it after you payed for it instead of worrying about property taxes or death taxes for your loved ones. Think about the number of people who have stayed on unemployment rather than creating their own employment motivated to get off the dole and get buzy. Think of the renewed healthcare free from government restrictions and paperwork. Think of the farmers allowed to plant heirloom seed instead of genetically altered seed. Would it really be so bad? Or, would it be a return to that era of freedom that was first created by a few good men willing to give everything they had to get out from under the shackles of Britain's slavery?

I don't know about you, but I am willing to give up my illusion of status quo for what's behind that door of uncertainty. What is certain to come if we continue down the Obama path is destruction of what made America the only country the world's downtrodden wanted to come to no matter the sacrifice. If the Government shuts down I don't think America will shrivel up and die. I think after the fire the forest will bloom again and be reborn from the ashes. We need to stop listening to them tell us we aren't smart enough to handle our money in our own best interests and we don't need a bunch of elitist ivy league academians who have never held a real job or managed a business manage our money for us. The government can shut down and I will be there to lock the doors and sell off the property. Disney could buy it and turn it into a historic theme park. Bring all of our soldiers home, close all the foreign bases and sell those properties and hire our men and woman to defend and protect our borders and process illegals. Our best and brightest should be here my friend not defending countries that in the end wish to destroy us. And how about calling in the debt for rebuilding the old world after WWII? I think that would more than cover our debt to China and Japan.

I always remember the old saying less is more. If the government closed down tomorrow, I think we would be able to more than survive.

Dear Fellow Conservatives:

Many of you have contacted me about the bipartisan tax deal reached between President Obama and Republican leaders. I've carefully reviewed the legislation and I wanted to explain to you why I cannot support it.

First, I do not want to see anyone's taxes go up and I have been fighting for years to permanently extend all the tax rates. I disagree with the President that we cannot afford to extend these rates for everyone. It's the people's money and we should not raise taxes on hardworking American families.

But this bill does much more than simply extend tax rates.

For starters, it includes approximately $200 billion in new deficit spending and stimulus gimmicks. That's a lot of money that will have to be borrowed from China and repaid by our children and grandchildren. If we're going to increase spending on new programs, we must reduce other spending to pay for it.

The bill also only extends rates for two years. We don't have a temporary economy so we shouldn't have temporary tax rates. Individuals and businesses make decisions looking at the long-term and we're not going to create jobs without giving people certainty as to what their taxes will be in future.

The bill also fails to extend all of the tax rates. It actually increases the death tax from its current rate of zero percent all the way up to 35 percent. One economic study shows that this tax increase alone will kill over 800,000 jobs over the next ten years.

Finally, the bill now includes dozens of earmarks for special interests, including ethanol subsidies, tax breaks for film and television producers, give away's for Puerto Rican rum manufacturers, favors for auto racing track owners, and a hand out for businesses in American Samoa.

The President called Republicans "hostage takers" this week but he should be pointing his figure squarely at himself. We've known for years that these tax rates were going to expire but he did nothing about it until the last minute. Now Americans are being told they have to accept hundreds of billions in new spending and stimulus gimmicks, an increase the death tax, and a bunch of unnecessary earmarks or their taxes will go up.

I'm not going to be bullied into voting for things that will hurt our country because politicians in Washington ignored the problem until it was a crisis.

Many of you fought hard to elect new leaders to the Senate this year with the expectation that they would fight deficit spending, tax hikes, and backroom deals. I take that commitment very seriously and I'm prepared to vote against this bill even if I'm the only one in the Senate to do so.

I appreciate the efforts made by my party's leaders to negotiate this deal but I believe Americans deserve much better. This deal should be rejected and then fixed. We can easily extend these tax rates without increasing spending once the new crop of Republican senators, including Pat Toomey, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ron Johnson, are sworn in. The President has already conceded that taxes cannot go up and we'll have more Republicans in Congress in a few weeks to fight for a better deal.

Is Spreading Democracy Costing our Freedom?



I am known for being a great supporter of our military men and women in uniform. I still am. Military service is a part of my family and I still have members of my family currently serving.

What I have begun asking these days is while our family members are out risking life and limb for others it seems our very freedom here in our country is being quickly eroded away and I fear when our family members return home they will not find any freedom.

For the last 100 years or so we have not as a country become imperialists as liberals like to paint us, but we have become the world police. I began doing a little research into exactly how many bases we have outside the US and I was completely shocked at the numbers. Don't get me wrong, I understand it is better to fight the enemy abroad rather than on our shores and keeping your friends close and your enemies closer, but it seems to me we have gotten ourselves into a bloated situation of commitment of money and troops abroad while leaving the hen house vulnerable to the foxes.

I have said before we need to circle our wagons and bring our troops home to guard our borders against foreign invaders, illegal immigration, drug trafficing and airport security. By bringing all these troops home we will recreate the economies of dead cities and truely create jobs. It would also result in lowering military and state costs. The border states and port states have been begging for help for quite some time now.

Buy American: "Marxism or Survival?"



In 1933 FDR signed the Buy American Act which required the United States government to prefer American made products in its purchases. Other pieces of Federal legislation extend similar requirements to third-party purchases that utilize Federal funds, such as highway and transit programs. The President can wave this act if equal trade is involved with a foreign supplier. Under the 1979 General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) Government Procurement Code, the U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement, the U.S.-Canada Free Trade Agreement, and the World Trade Organization (WTO) 1996 Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA), the United States provides access to the government procurement of certain U.S. agencies for goods from the other parties to the agreements.

Buy American is a program that had it's roots in Union protectionism. By making Made in America a patriotic act union jobs were protected. For some campaigns it even bordered on racism. Growing up I heard more than one WWII generation senior say they would never buy a "Jap rice burner" or a "Kraut VW car". To them buying a foreign car was buying from the enemy and thus disrespecting the memories of those American's that fought and died for freedom and the memories of those Jews who provided slave labor to German Companies and then were killed.


Today conservatives and even progressives are still for freetrade and see the global market place as a good thing for Americans and an incentive for less efficient and competative American companies to work better and thus create stronger businesses. Selling plateforms like the internet through sources like EBay and Craig's List have become boom sources for small companies restricted to their geographic area to be able to cheaply reach a global marketplace and has been a good thing for American small retail businesses. Dollar store chains carrying mostly cheap import goods have made more than one American a millionaire and at the same time provide goods at lower prices for cash strapped Americans. These dollar stores have been so successful that many standard retail outlets have dollar item aisles and sales islands within their stores.

Over the years I have seen the consumers change with this access to cheap import goods. Product loyalty and business loyalty has gone out the window completely. I remember when discount retail outlets got into the car repair and tire and battery business and I witnessed loyal customers leave our small hometown service station to go get discount work at cut rate prices. Then I saw these same people complain that when they were out traveling and they broke down they could not find a service station anywhere and they had to wait hours and hours for a tow. I watched consumers stop going to the small appliance stores to go to the big hardware stores to buy frigs and washers and dryers and than complain when they could not get anyone to fix the thing after they got it home. Americans in their effort to afford more things have Pogoed themselves into a third world existance to save a dollar and in turned killed their own opportunity for employment at a living wage. American Small Business was the source for quality goods, quality service, fair prices and fair hiring practices. Unions were also a part of this demise. Ford Motor company prior to the unions offered it's people 5 day work weeks, insurance, paid holidays and weekends and many of the good business practices the unions claim they don't offer. Union thugs used organized crime tactics to force unions on workers who were just not interested.

My feelings for the effects of freetrade and unions has changed dramatically over the years. I now see that freetrade is a form of protectionism and unions are more of that same protectionism that has degraded our way of life rather than enhanced it for the most part. Don't get me wrong I am still for freetrade if and only if it is a two way street. For decades our international trade has been one sided. I don't believe in union protectionism, however I do think imports should be taxed 10 precent unless those countries agree to import equal amounts of goods and services from the US. I do believe we as Americans should commit to spending a little more and doing with a little less to buy American Made products. The best way to cripple an economic thug is to deny our trade dollars. We are through our imports financing Marxist countries that practice human rights violations against their and our citizens through military and terrorists acts. And quite frankly the more we learn about the lead paint, mold and food born illness problems we are having with imported goods I would think it would be a great deal healthier to buy American Made. On my twitter page I often try to bring to light great American Companies that offer superior products that I have personally tried and enjoyed. I think it's important.

The other day I had to go and purchase a new American Flag because someone ran off with the flag pole and all. I went to the Walmart up the street from my house and looked at the flags they had for sale. It said Made with American materials by Americans in America. I picked it up. About 15 dollars. I went to a discount hardware store to pick up some stuff and looked at similar flags and they were made in China and were about 10 dollars. I was glad I had paid about 5 dollars more for the made in America flag.

I feel much like the WWII seniors now. Defeat the enemy by not being an enemy of American Business. Support America buy American. I also support as many small businesses in my community as I can going a little out of my way to buy from them what I might get at a large discount store. I think Consumers can send a message and it can change our country. It's those dollars we spend every day that are like tiny little votes for American Businessman. Make an effort to support American businesses, tell the large chains you would prefer they buy American made supplies and materials. Trade with the small independent shops in your area. Cast your greenback votes for Americans.

The Real Hard Choices


The current administration has constantly bragged they are making the hard choices. I disagree. They have been making the wrong choices and choices that have failed the world over. Europe and America are in an engineered economic spiral created by Obama and his fellow social marxists intent on reducing the former leaders in economic prosperity to third world countries with indentured servants rather than producers. Fortunately much of America's citizens have come to their senses and have seen the emperor has no cloths and have elected and injected some fresh blood into the system. While Obama continues to pilfer the public's pockets on his world vacation tour (Why would Asia do business with us when they already make and produce everything they need?). Our newly elected officials have to drag kicking and screaming the marxists still in office back from edge of the cliff. And to the few Dems clinging to their jobs after the obama tour just say no to Pelosi as minority leader if you want to keep your job. It's a shame her fellow citizens didn't see the light and kick her to the curb.

The real hard choices begin.

1. Facing the reality you can't get blood out of stone or taxes from the unemployed by taxing the employer.

2. Facing the reality that we can't afford obama care and we don't want government controlling our medical dollars. What we do want is government to stop overregulating the medical comunity to the point it makes it cost prohibitive to do business. Cut the paperwork,amend compensation for malpractice to reasonable. Single bills for single issues that involve reducing government regulations and strangulation of the medical field and insurance companies.

3. Face the reality that the marketplace needs to be the measure of a company. No more bail outs. No more farm subsidies. No more gov take overs of corp. Thatcher did this in England.

4. Term limits and job limits for all federal offices to return government to the world of public service and not a career field.

5. End lifetime benefits and pensions for all government workers.

6. Any legislator or president making over 250,000 a year will receive no salary, no benefits and no free airplane rides.

7. With today's technology teleconferencing will be the preferred mode for legislator's debates and votes. The only time they need to be in Washington is to be sworn in. We will also end world travel for Presidents as well. No reason for it. We do not need to impress anyone.

8. Presidents will have to seek aproval for all travel from the legislature and expenses made pubic record.

9. Any redundant offices will be eliminated. Legislators will not maintain Washington offices.
There will be meeting rooms that can be signed up for when Legislators are in Washington for swearing in ceremonies and functions.

10. No more free cars,parking,limos or planes. They get a tram pass in dc.

11. All federal offices will be closed save national defense and the IRS as we transition to a national 10 percent sales tax and eliminate income tax and all other taxes nationwide. All property taxes will be eliminated so that when someone has paid off their home or land they truely own it. This is not England. That is why we fought the Revolutionary War. States may have a sales tax of no more than 10 percent. Any tax increase at the State or Federal level has to come up for a public vote and have a specific purpose and time length. Food,RX,Fuel and housing are tax exempt. Charities and materials used for manufacture or resale are also tax exempt. All imported products will have a 10 percent import tax.

12. Defence of our own borders will be number one priority and all troops will be recalled to perform this task untill done before we assist other countries in their security again. The flow of illegal drugs and persons will be stopped and a temporary moratorium will be placed on any further new citizens.

13. All illegal aliens will be identified,background checked and if proof of employment and sponsor is provided will be allowed to remain as long as citizenship is completed. Anyone with record of illegal activities will be deported immediately.

14. Every one wishing to be president of the United States must provide a original birth certificate as proof of legal citizenship.

15. Every one wishing to be president of the United States must have served at least two years in the Military.

16. The savings from all streamlining of government will be collected and used to pay off all obligations to Social Security participants and Social Security will end. Welfare will end. Unemployment will end. Any other money made from selling closed government buildings and office equipment and the like will be used to pay off the trillion high debt. Once the debt is paid any other money will be evenly distributed to each American Citizen. The American dollar will return to the gold standard and the Federal Reserve will be closed.

17. There will be no taxes on gifts,inheritances,lotteries,savings,investments,stocks and bonds.

18. Make math and money management a big part of High School curiculums.

19. Eliminate all foreign country hand outs. Leave this to the private sector at the disgression of the public.

20. Eliminate all unions from the United States. Again just another corrupt marxist middleman to your money.

21 We will do no further business with foreign countries if the exchange of trade does not equal 50/50. If we want to cripple our enemies all we need to do is stop financing them with our trade.

22. We will develop all oil reserves and build refineries enough to be totally fuel independent. Thus increasing jobs, lowering domestic fuel costs and improving domestic auto sales.

By eliminating all but sales tax everyone pays based on the ability to spend. By returning all of our troops to home we reduce the costs of national defense. By defederalizing what should be local concerns under local control we reduce federal government costs and government conflict and redundancy. By forcing legislators to live and work in their communities makes them directly accountable and less costly. By eliminating all but sales tax, businesses will grow and people will have more money to spend and save and thus have no need for government hand outs. Why do we continue to go through a middle man with our own income?

Republicans who have been voted in listen up. You have not be placed in DC to play their game. You have not been placed there to negotiate with half wit intellectual academians with no grasp of real world economics. You have been placed there to stop them and clean up all their messes and nothing more. Be the man, be the boss we have your back....

Pathetic Prop 19



The poster boy for why pot should not be legalized in California. I would say probably about 99 percent of Cali's urban population smokes pot. And anyone over 50 has smoked pot or is now smoking pot. And probably about 80 percent of those folks have tried harder drugs at some time in their lives. Why do I say this? Because you would have to be high and or wealthy from selling drugs to elect the brain trust they have running their local and state governments. Even their beloved poser and chief BO went on to cocaine.

This prop currently before the voters has been created by the local bought and paid for drug cartel controlled politicos. The cartels know that pot is the entrance drug for most to their most profitable harder drugs. Legalizing pot would encourage those afraid of the popo to buy pot and lead users to the harder drugs they sell. Taxes....we don't pay no stinking taxes. The Calis are being conned into thinking this would allow them to dig themselves out of their fiscal nightmare through taxing the stuff. Think again my high friend. That ain't going to happen. If anything your taxes will go higher to support increased law enforcement to handle the increase in crime,traffic accidents etc.

As I have asked my twitter pals if you wouldn't want a surgeon on booze operating on you, or a mechanic with one to many beer working on your brakes why would you want a pot head either? Doesn't make good sense.

I grew up in Florida where buying pot was as easy as getting a gal of milk. 99 percent of my crew smoked pot, 100 percent went on to harder drugs. It ruined their lives in one form or another. It is an entrance drug to a world of addictions. Drug use is 99 percent the cause of all violent crimes in the state of Florida. Is this what you really want? Look at the results of the pot heads running DC. Vote No on legalizing poison. Vote no on Prop 19. Nough Said.

10/2 Ed Union Socialist Rally














What if they paid people to attend a rally and nobody came. This was the case yesterday at the Ed Rally. This aerial taken at the peak of the rally because the front audience group at the Lincoln memorial was still full. By 2:30PM many had lost interest and left I presume to take avantage of the free trip to tour DC. By the end of the show at 4:40PM when they brought in the funk with Grover Cleveland dressed in military and camo garb (poor taste) the people had all but left. The crowds were a mix of every trade union known in the US,various Marxist socialist groups,Dem party activist groups, and a few DC unemployed. Not a racially mixed group as well. The bulk of those attending were African American. The few caucasians in the group were primarily on the stage as organizers,radio talk hosts and union leaders. A sprinkling of racist Hispanics showed up from La Raza to promote their agenda of harboring law breaking illegals and ethnically cleansing America of Europeans and African Americans. Ironic yes?

SEIU as other unions were well represented.

The organizers of this Dog and Pony show dug up a native american descent former comic writer from the Rozanne Show to represent native americans. And they killed two minorities at once with an asia gay man that went over like a lead balloon wth the primarily african american audience. (Homosexuality still very taboo in the African American and Hispanic communities.)



When you compare the aerial of the Ed Rally at the top of this article with the Restoring America rally above this paragraph there is an obvious observation that can be made. Even if they pay people to follow the left they will not follow for long. The real patriot, the real citizen of America will show up to fight for freedom anytime,anyplace and the far left had better be prepared to live in a free country or catch a flight to Cuba.


Over all the rally seemed to be nothing more than a union rally and a disorganized one at that for a group of seasoned community organizers. It was a pathetic display of despiration of elitist thugs sucking off the tit of hard working Americans knowing their gravey train is about to end. I hope this event served as an education for the public and the liberal press that they shouldn't hook their wagon to this disfunctional bloodsucking star.

Never Forget








Four years ago the daughter of police officer Moira Smith who was killed on 9-11, Patricia Smith, held the hand of her father James Smith on stage during the reading of names of victims of 9-11 during ceremonies at Ground Zero September 11, 2006 in New York City. The day marked the fifth anniversary of the hijacked plane attacks that killed almost 3,000 people in New York City, Washington and Pennsylvania.



There are people in the media who have asked if Americans will ever "Get Over This." Like the victims of Pearl Harbor I can honestly say no, no America will never "Get Over This" because it's not just about the heartlessness of this attack , but the real loss to Americans of their mothers,fathers,sons and daughters,best friends,relatives and especially that real sense of safety we always felt we had here in this country. On September 11th all Americans will mourn and never forget who and what died that day. And on that day every year we will resolve to NEVER let that happen again especially when we see the faces of those left behind like Patricia Smith. Believe that.

How Different Are We?




I wanted to share we you all a personal experience while visiting DC for the first time in my life. I was on a business trip with a co worker who I count as a good friend and kindred spirit. He had worked for 4 days to get us a flight out of town during a multiple hurricane weather jag. When we finally arrived in DC we had just two days of the 5 day training we were booked for and it was a bummer. I was determined to honor his hard work by getting us at least one sight seeing tour of DC.

I knew from my tour book they had night tours and we had one free night. It ended up being a trial to get on the bus but we made it and it ended up being one great tour and I reccommend anyone to take a night tour. It is much more meaningful.

The thing I want to share with you is about the time we spent at the Lincoln Memorial. In my family Lincoln is akin to Moses is to the Jews. We have an old newspaper somewhere saved by my family from the time of Lincoln's murder and death. I was in ah of the monument. The other person revered in our household is Dr. King. I immediately made my way for where I knew he stood. I remember the speech on TV. I was 4 years old and it is one of the few memories of my early childhood I remember. I remember the grownups being very serious and hushing us as they watched this man speak hanging on his every word.

There was a large group of children looking for the spot Dr. King stood and having trouble. It was pitch black that evening on the platform and you couldn't see your hand let alone the engraved stone marking the spot. I could hear by the voices the children were of all nationalities. I pulled out my flashlight and shown the light on the stone and motioned for the kids to come over and together we all looked at the stone.I told them what I could remember and then what I remembered when Dr. King lost his life for the cause of Civil Rights. I remember my dad and me singing together the old folk tune Anybody Here." We all looked out to the distant lit Washington memorial and the reflecting pond and wondered what it must have been like to stand up there speaking or be out there listening in the audience. I turned my light out and I thought in this complete darkness we all look the same.

Education Reform that Works


In my hometown education is a huge issue. Low graduation rates amongst our public school students are a huge concern along with the increased needs of mainstreaming and immigration of non english speaking students. We are a no left behind state with strict yearly state testing of all students, smaller class size initiatives, strict school voucher programs, quality subsidized school lunch programs, large home school and church school programs as well as state support home school support initiatives, neighboorhood schools, charter schools,fundamental schools and public school choice programs. And yet, in the public school area we still have schools that receive an F and we are constantly told the school budgets are cut to the max and they need more teachers and that some schools will be closed.
The recent reports on homeschools has begged the question why are public schools having so much trouble? Homeschoolers out perform their peers by 40 percent and rank in the 86th percentile in every subject. The public school student performs on average in the 50th percentile. And yet, the average cost per home schooled student was $546 every year, as opposed to the average $5,325 spent annually on each child in the public school system.

Race made no difference in the the achievement of homeschoolers. All did equally well. However race did make a huge difference in the public schools persons of color ranking lower than their white counterparts.

Government oversight or no oversight made no difference in the success of the homeschooler. College educated or no college education parent teachers produced students with the same high success rates.

And most significant of all, more homeschoolers go on to higher education and achieving productive positions in their communities than public school students.

Obviously homeschoolers must be doing something right.

We know that the teacher's unions are chiefly about saving their jobs. That is their primary goal as it should be as a union. This has spawned the triple thick administrator rosters,higher teacher salaries that exceed the average state income levels,smaller class sizes,mainstreaming,tenure,lower teaching standards,fights against school testing and evaluation of academic achievement. This is not about the students but jobs.

Job number one should be our students. Job number one should be about how do we most effectively teach our children. Home schoolers seem to be the most successful. If you have a good working model duplicate it. That is how we do it in the business world. Copy their model, their curriculum, etc. In our area people want more fundamental public schools. The old guard is coming up with excuses why they can't do it even those these schools are rated A every time. Some folks running for office are for fundamental schools. Who do you think will be elected? The backers of fundamentals or those that back the teacher's unions?

I think real education reform is on the way. Our children will not be enslaved on the government dole. Our children won't be as dumb as we have been. They will not be lambs led to the slaughter anymore. Make November be the thunder to remember.

What Should Mr. Smith Do in Washington?


It has been standard behavior by voters to vote for and re elect representatives in local and federal government who will bring back the most money to their home town or state. We brag that so and so brought back all this money or sponsored this or that law that provided for so much for us. Taxes were low then, the value of the dollar was high, credit was plentiful, jobs available, home values showed a good return on value invested, each generation did better than the last and all was well with the world and as said in the book "Cannery Row" "the world was spinning in greased grooves."But as America progressed it's children like the children of the wisest man in the bible Solomon, the Anthony Robbins of his time, the children became lazy and spoiled demanding more and more and working less and less. The great society collapsed and the children and grand children of Solomon lost the kindom and all became enslaved. Americans no different than the children of the wisest man have also lost their way. Looking for every handout they can and not noticing that their governments are reaching into their back pockets for the very same dollars they are trying to get back. But soon this cyclic activity bore it's inevitable fruit, corruption at the deepest levels of government, bankrupt states, derelict cities, high unemployment and even higher numbers of people on the government dole.

What we should be voting for is Mr. Smiths who help us keep what we have in our pockets and stop laws that limit our abilities to go out and create our own businesses, jobs and lives that enrich us and our communities.

In small town America the most prosperous of us would build the libraries, hospitals, and schools, not the government. Instead of giving our livelihood away for other's to decide where it best can be spent, let us take responsibility for our own destinies. Let us look to ourselves for our own survival and look to government only for state and national defense.

When we put too many middlemen between ourselves and our means to advance we are setting ourselves up for failure. Without a life preserver we are more likely to learn to swim, without training wheels we are more likely to learn to peddle faster and better. Without a motorized wheel chair that knee replacement patient is more likely to learn to walk without assistance.

It is time we stop bragging on these professional politicians (who are really the most experienced citizens at living off the public dole) for getting this and that for their state. It is time we start bragging on those that have the courage to vote NO on more government redistributions of your own money and NO on more laws that chip a way at our freedom of self determination. Let us elect men and woman who write bills that curb government legislating every aspect of our lives and start fighting bills in court that have been passed that go against the very will of the people that elected them.

The far left have called conservatives the party of no, the party of no compassion, the party of racists, the party of no ideas.

But this is not true. As Solomon said there is nothing "new" under the sun. The old values of hard work and taking responsibility for ourselves and helping the infirm are as old as time itself. The only time the chosen people fell into to death, desease and bad times is when they forgot the age old principles God had laid out for them in his early levitical laws. As Christ told us he came not to change the laws but to fulfill them. We like the Pharisees have inserted so much of ourselves into our philisophies we have crowded out the simple truths of God. God is our manufacturer. He knows how we work best individually and as a group. The rules are simple and clear and we have taken many lifetimes to muck it up. It is time to get back to the basics of governance. It is time to ask Mr. Smith to teach our local and national governments to go back to the simple levels of government involvement in our lives and allow us the freedom to pursue life, liberty and happiness.

We have looked for the enemy and it is us Pogo, it is time we kill that enemy, forget past hurts and slights, stop looking for someone to bail us out of our own self created messes and pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start again taking back our lives and our futures instead of putting our trust in men who care not for you but for their own petty ambitions for power and money. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of watching elected officials take lavish vacations, hold lavish dinners and other displays of power and wealth on my hard earned dime. These self absorbed emperors of all they survey brag about the redistributed wealth they have picked from our well worn pockets and at the same time tell us with croc tears that they feel our pain and state the obvious of the problems as if they care and understand. Then they hop into their limos and their first class airline seats or private government jets and go home on Thursday for their "weekend" not to be seen until Tuesday to wine and dine and boat and jet with the well heeled masses at the club or play 3 rounds of golf etc. You get the picture. It is time to elect real Mr. and Mrs. Smith who have only one goal and that is to get governments off our back and out of our pockets and then go home to go on to live the same lives they left.

When you go to the polls in November think on these things. Isn't about time we free the slaves for real this time. Isn't it about time we cut the chains that bind us. Isn't it about time we are really free?

I Have a Dream Deconstructed



For the Sharpton impaired as a public service to my brothers and sisters that were subjected to the flight induced free First Class Seat 7/7 mumbled nonsense that brother Al called a speech I would like to break it down for you Dr. King's famous speech honored with honor at the Restoring Honour Rally. In his speech Dr. King mentioned "free" or "freedom" 20 times. He spoke of the unrealized fullfillment of the Emancipation Proclamation. Yeah Freedom again more than once. He spoke of access to quality education for all, true freedom to travel,stay at hotels,use restrooms and water fountains,buses,trains,planes, restaurants all without fear of abuse or restriction. He spoke of equal opportunity for employment,voting, and representation in government. Quite frankly we have achieved all of that and more all subsidized by the working class and corporate america and what have we done with it? Many of us have chosen to refuse the gift fought for us so bravely. Some of us have decided to suckle the tit of the Federal government never getting on to solid food. Many old dinosaurs who I suspect were mearly coattail riders choose to act like nothing happened and we are still the underpriviledged and disenfranchised not of our own choosing. Still and forever the victim choosing rather to blame others for our own failures when we have many examples of people of every nationality,faith and creed who have succeeded far farther than they would have in any other country.

I quote Dr. King

"The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back."

"Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream."

"I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and
mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

Dr. King was not preaching division, black ownership of this dream. He was preaching what God wants brotherhood for all. Is America perfect? Is there bigotry? No we are not perfect people and yes there is still bigotry. But do we legally have freedoms. For now yes. It is my dream that this division created by these old warhorses and brainwashed 30 and 40 year old Marxist Socialists who have been handed these old chestnuts to hold on to justify their hate and failures will be stopped. It is my dream that God will open the eyes of these blinded individuals to their devisive ways and Freedom will be preserved and restored to all Americans. That as Dr King stated,

"In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Dr. King did not believe the note was a handout, but a goal to freely be pursued by all mankind.

And that my friends is the Dream speech deconstructed.



A Few Thousand Show Up for Beck and Call Rally









Just kidding folks. A million patriotic Americans of every flavor showed up to support the troops,celebrate the best country in the world(America),cheer with America's best national treasure and cheerleader Glenn Beck, and praise the Lord. I truely think Glenn was worried no one would show up. Glenn........ Even you underestimated the fervor of American's love for God and Country. Shame on you. Tears filled the eyes of every speaker and performer as they all seemed truely overwhelmed at the supersized turnout. I look forward to seeing how the MSNBC and CNN blowhards try to spin this as a small racist get together. But they will. Let them go ahead. I think Americans have found their resolve, their strength in the good Lord and got on their feet to prove it. When voting in November remember to pray first and then consider each candidate and ask yourself what your values are and who supports the ideals you believe in and what direction the country needs to go. Also ask yourself what you need to do to stop the current regime from crushing the American Dream. Voting should be a no brainer. This rally was an astounding success and a glaring example that the Americans know what they need to do to succeed and restore the American Dream. Washington be afraid, be very afraid the American Train is rolling on through and prepare for the moving van cause you're headed out of town.

Cus does it again.
In just six months, the largest tax hikes in the history of America will take effect. They will hit families and small businesses in three great waves on January 1, 2011:

First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief

In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:

Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:

- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%

Higher taxes on marriage and family. The “marriage penalty” (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits will be cut.

The return of the Death Tax. This year, there is no death tax. For those dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a retirement account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones.

Higher tax rates on savers and investors. The capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The dividends tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011. These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.

Second Wave: Obamacare

There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare. Several will first go into effect on January 1, 2011. They include:

The “Medicine Cabinet Tax” Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription, over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).

The “Special Needs Kids Tax” This provision of Obamacare imposes a cap on flexible spending accounts (FSAs) of $2500 (Currently, there is no federal government limit). There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children. There are thousands of families with special needs children in the United States, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education. Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in Washington, D.C. (National Child Research Center) can easily exceed $14,000 per year. Under tax rules, FSA dollars can be used to pay for this type of special needs education.

The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike. This provision of Obamacare increases the additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.

Third Wave: The Alternative Minimum Tax and Employer Tax Hikes

When Americans prepare to file their tax returns in January of 2011, they’ll be in for a nasty surprise—the AMT won’t be held harmless, and many tax relief provisions will have expired. The major items include:

The AMT will ensnare over 28 million families, up from 4 million last year. According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center, Congress’ failure to index the AMT will lead to an explosion of AMT taxpaying families—rising from 4 million last year to 28.5 million. These families will have to calculate their tax burdens twice, and pay taxes at the higher level. The AMT was created in 1969 to ensnare a handful of taxpayers.

Small business expensing will be slashed and 50% expensing will disappear. Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly-deduct, or “depreciate”) equipment purchases up to $250,000. This will be cut all the way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can expense half of their purchases of equipment. In January of 2011, all of it will have to be “depreciated.”

Taxes will be raised on all types of businesses. There are literally scores of tax hikes on business that will take place. The biggest is the loss of the “research and experimentation tax credit,” but there are many, many others. Combining high marginal tax rates with the loss of this tax relief will cost jobs.

Tax Benefits for Education and Teaching Reduced. The deduction for tuition and fees will not be available. Tax credits for education will be limited. Teachers will no longer be able to deduct classroom expenses. Coverdell Education Savings Accounts will be cut. Employer-provided educational assistance is curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be disallowed for hundreds of thousands of families.

Charitable Contributions from IRAs no longer allowed. Under current law, a retired person with an IRA can contribute up to $100,000 per year directly to a charity from their IRA. This contribution also counts toward an annual “required minimum distribution.” This ability will no longer be there.

Iacocca Rant


Cuz sent a great one.
Would you believe that Lee Iacocca is 82 years old and is still kickin' butt?
Check out his latest efforts.

Just as true today as it was when his book first
came out.
He was, and still is, a brilliant businessman!
Often we need to be reminded of Iacocca's words.

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes? He's now 82 years old and has a new book, 'Where Have All The Leaders Gone?'.
Lee Iacocca Says:
'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage with this so called president? We should be screaming bloody murder! We've got a gang of tax cheating clueless leftists trying to steer our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even run a ridiculous cash-for-clunkers program without losing $26 billion of the taxpayers' money, much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'trust me the economy is getting better..'
Better? You've got to be kidding. This is America , not the damned, 'Titanic'. I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the Democrats out along with Obama!'
You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore..
The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs.. While we're fiddling in Afghanistan, Iran is completing their nuclear bombs and missiles and nobody seems to know what to do. And the liberal press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the ' America ' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?
I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C's of leadership, with crisis being the first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with thumb up your butt and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A hell of a mess, so here's where we stand.

We're immersed in a bloody war now with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving.. But our soldiers are dying daily.

We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the world, and it's getting worse every day!

We've lost the manufacturing edge to Asia, while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.

Gas prices are going to skyrock again, and nobody in power has a lucid plan to open drilling to solve the problem. This country has the largest oil reserves in the WORLD, and we cannot drill for it because the politicians have been bought by the flea-hugging environmentalists.

Our schools are in a complete disaster because of the teachers union.

Our borders are like sieves and they want to give all illegal's amnesty and free healthcare.

The middle class is being squeezed to death every day.
These are times that cry out for leadership.
But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point..
Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?
We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.
Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping the government will make it better for them. Now, that's just crazy.. Deal with life.
Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, look what Obama did about it!
Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.
I have news for the Chicago gangsters in Congress. We didn't elect you to turn this country into a losing European Socialist state. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?
Had Enough? Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope - I believe in America .. In my lifetime, I've had the privilege of living through some of America 's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: The 'Great Depression,' 'World War II,' the 'Korean War,' the 'Kennedy Assassination,' the 'Vietnam War,' the 1970's oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years since 9/11.

Obama Spacing Out





Obama made it a priority that we should work with the muslim nations on the space program and is encouraging one of his czars to make muslims feel good about themselves by extolling their academic virtues. Former NASA head in effect said and I paraphrase "What?????" Fox News commentator Hume said that just sounds like we are broke. I just think they will look on it as an opportunity to send sucide bombers from space. A rocket's just a big bomb.
